What a difference a few seconds can make.
Last night my beloved Minnesota Vikings pulled off a #MinneapolisMiracle with a Hail Mary that rocked our city. My Facebook feed exploded with purple joy.
It was a snowy, frigid Sunday night, and I didn’t have any plans to see the game. I haven’t had a TV in years, and sometimes I miss out on those “gotta see it live” programs. I thought about going down to the neighborhood bar to watch it with fellow northerners, but my inner cranky old lady kicked in.
Throughout the game I would refresh my phone to see the score. It was a nail-biter. My heart sank at 25 seconds when it looked like New Orleans would win. I wanted to be a part of the experience! Refresh, refresh, refresh! I felt like something big was about to happen, so I FaceTimed my best friend Jean.
“Can you point the phone to the TV?”, I said. She did, and over the next few moments I witnessed a miracle that lifted the spirits of my entire home state (and the Dakotas!) Even though I wasn’t one of the 65,000 at the US Bank stadium, I was still grateful to be a part of it. Truly inspiring.
A lot can happen over a few seconds. We can give up, or we can persevere. We can ignore the signs or follow the nudge. Choose wisely.
(If you want to see what 65,000 ecstatic Minnesotans sound like, watch this sideline cam clip. Goosebumps!!)
