Celebrate the Successes of Others (While Creating Your Own)

The ladder of success has no room for jealousy.

I have a client/fellow speaker/wildly talented friend named Nancy Dahl. This week Nancy launched her incredible book, Grounded: Leading Your Life with Intention, and is creating some serious buzz. Nancy is smart, talented, inspiring, and totally committed to mindful leadership. As I am reading (no, devouring) her book, I see many similarities to my own teachings, many of which will be in my soon-to-be-launched book on Mindful Productivity. In fact, on the day that Nancy had her launch, I was editing the section in my book on grounding your energy. Great minds think alike!

When I saw Nancy’s adoring throngs of fans who attended her book launch and her drool-worthy media coverage, there was a part of me that was super envious. However, I also know that envy is a destructive, unconscious emotion that serves no one and only builds barriers to success.

When we try to push others off the ladder because of our own insecurities, it only serves to knock us down a rung or two. Success is not a zero-sum game; there is plenty to go around. In fact, it comes to us quicker the more we surround ourselves with amazing people like Nancy.

Connect with and support those rock stars who you can learn from and be inspired by. Success will surely follow.
